LIVE YOUR FREE LIFE

Welcome to Live Free Endurance, where runners and triathletes learn how to train in a way that fits real life—simple, structured, and sustainable. My mission is to help athletes move from uncertainty into confidence so you can stop starting over, trust your training, and build a way of moving your body that actually lasts. I believe endurance training should support your life, not take it over, and my coaching is built around helping you find that balance through consistency, strength, and clarity.
About Me.
Hi, I’m Kristi! Teacher, Coach, and life-long endurance sports lover.
I remember being a kid and running laps around the trailer I grew up in. I thought it was such a big distance back then, and I can still remember the joy I felt as I pushed myself to go faster, further. While I ran cross country through middle school, I didn’t have anyone pushing me to continue after that.
I was fully an adult before I learned how to run distance, and eventually train for triathlons. It started when a new friend asked me to train for a half marathon (wow and all the things I did wrong!) and got me interested in lifting.
Since then, I’ve:
-
Finished more half marathons than I can count
-
Completed two marathons
-
Raced sprint and Olympic triathlons
-
Completed a 70.3 triathlon
But none of that came easily.
I’ve faced injury.
I’ve had to start over.
And at 30, I was diagnosed with osteopenia—which forced me to completely rethink how I train, recover, and take care of my body.
You see, falling back in love with running as an adult came with a pressure to be skinny… not strong. When I got my first injury, I realized I still had so many things wrong about my fitness. The reality is physical fitness often has very little to do with how you look or a number on the scale.
If I could go back and coach 16 year old KJ, I’d tell her to pick up a dumbbell. Eat twice as many carbs as everyone else tells her to. I bet she would have avoided that osteopenia diagnosis. But, we can’t go back in time, so what did I do? I became the queen of the pivot.
I pivoted to workouts my body could handle, even learning how to swim to do triathlon. I built out my own lifting routine and focused on nutrition to support different training cycles and goals. After years of learning the hard way, it’s now my mission to support other athletes safely building a training program that focuses on real physical fitness and care for their bodies.
My experiences teaching and racing gave me an opportunity to coach high school athletes in cross country and track. That’s where I realized my love for supporting beginners or those who just needed a push to chase big goals.
With Live Free Endurance, I’m rebuilding again.
I train alongside my coaching clients, following the same tips I pass along.
Not just to race, but to create a life where I can keep doing the things I love for a long time.
